Earth Day Spring Clean Up

Cully Spring clean up for 2013.

Clean Up, Recycle and Provide on April 20th

The Cully Association of Neighbors will be having their Earth Day Spring Clean Up on Saturday, April 20, 2013 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at Trinity Lutheran Church and School located at 5520 NE Killingsworth. Previous clean ups were a tremendous success due in part to the many wonderful neighborhood volunteers, support from SOLVE, Trinity Lutheran Church and School, Central NE Neighbors, Habitat for Humanity, Albertsons, Verde, and local businesses, Portland Bureau of Planning and Sustainability and Metro. We appreciate everyone's continued support!

The CAN will again have an express lane for those bringing two or three items.The NE Emergency Food Program will be on hand to collect cases and cans of food especially fruit and toiletries, clothing or other personal items including toilet paper. Appliance City will be accepting reusable appliances. There will be a U- Price It area for those other miscellaneous goodies; where you can donate useable items, find something you like, price it, pay and it's yours. The Salvation Army will be collecting remaining items.

This event is strictly for residential households/vehicles only. No commercial vehicles will be allowed. Also not accepted will be refrigerators or air conditioners. Suggested FEES: Car $7.00, SUV or Van $15.00, Pickup Truck $20.00 and up. Additional fees for all vehicles with oversize loads or trailers – fee based on size of load. Computers, monitors and TV's less than 36" has an $8.00 transportion fee.  Any other electrical or electronic item is $2.00. Tires on rim $3.00 and tires off rim $2.00 each.

ACCEPTABLE ITEMS: Limited Yard debris (not compost), branches,  lawn mowers, bulky items, furniture, appliances, metal, glass, rubber, carpets, mattresses. cell phones, electronics, block styrofoam, batteries of all types, clothes and tires.

UNACCEPTABLE ITEMS: Hazardous Waste: gasoline, chemicals, oil, paint, tar, animal waste or liquids of any kind. These building & landscape materials: Concrete, asphalt, dirt, sod, brick, cement, sand, gravel or composition roofing, asbestos material and under the sink kitchen garbage.

Dispose of hazardous waste at the Metro Central Waste Transfer Station at 6161 NE 61st.  Plastics, TV's, electronics, computers and styrofoam are also accepted at Total Reclaim located at 5805 NE Columbia Blvd, call 503-281-1899 for details.

CAN is thankful for the Metro Voucher program and the Portland Bureau of Planning and Sustainability who compensate the hauling and disposal costs. Funds received defray the cost of this event and help sustain the Cully Association of Neighbors to flourish and grow.
