Cully Clean Up for 2016.
Clean Up, Recycle and Provide on April 23rd
The Cully Association of Neighbors will be having their Earth Day Spring Clean Up on Saturday, April 23, 2016 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at Trinity Lutheran Church and School located at 5520 NE Killingsworth St. Vehicle entrance from Emerson St. Previous clean ups were a tremendous success due in part to the many wonderful neighborhood volunteers, support from SOLVE, Trinity Lutheran Church and School, Central NE Neighbors, Albertsons, Safeway and local businesses, Portland Bureau of Planning and Sustainability and Metro. We appreciate everyone's continued support!
The NE Emergency Food Program will be on hand to collect cases and cans of food especially fruit and toiletries, clothing or other personal items including toilet paper.Community Appliances will be accepting reusable appliances. There will
be a Neighborhood Yard Sale area for those other miscellaneous goodies where you can donate usable items and/or find something you would like to purchase. The Salvation Army will be collecting remaining items.
This event is strictly for residential households/vehicles only. No commercial vehicles will be allowed. Suggested donations: Car $9.00, SUV $17.00, Van or Pickup Truck $25.00 and up. Additional fees for all vehicles with oversize loads or trailers – fee based on size of load. Computers, monitors and TV's less than 36" has an $5.00 transportation fee. Tires on rim $3.00 and tires off rim $2.00 each.
ACCEPTABLE ITEMS: Bulky waste, lawn mowers, bulky items, furniture, appliances,, microwaves, metal, glass, rubber, hard plastics, carpets,batteries, mattresses. cell phones, electronics, tv's, computers, block styrofoam, clothes and tires.
UNACCEPTABLE ITEMS: Yard debris, hazardous waste: gasoline, chemicals, oil, paint, tar, refrigerators, light bulbs, wood, packing peanuts, animal waste or liquids of any kind. All construction and building & landscape materials including: Concrete, asphalt, dirt, sod, brick, cement, sand, gravel or composition roofing, asbestos material. Also, no compost and under the sink kitchen garbage and trash.
Dispose of hazardous waste at the Metro Central Waste Transfer Station at 6161 NW 61st. Plastics, TV's, electronics, computers are also accepted at Total Reclaim located at 6427 NE 59th Place, call 503-281-1899 for details.
CAN is thankful for the Metro Voucher program and the Portland Bureau of Planning and Sustainability who compensate the hauling and disposal costs. Funds received defray the cost of this event, pay for CAN newsletters and the mini-grant program and help sustain the Cully Association of Neighbors to flourish and grow.
