Cully Park Preferred Alternatives Unveiled
March 11 open house offers public the opportunity to view and comment on preferred alternatives

(Portland, OR) The Cully neighborhoods dream for more public parks in their parks-deficient area may be closer to reality. Portland Parks & Recreation is holding an open house to review the final alternatives for the new Thomas Cully Park. Community members can drop by between 5:30 -7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 11, 2008, at Grace Church, 4927 NE 55th Avenue.
At an open house in January, community members reviewed and commented on the two draft concepts, which were refined from four original concepts through Project Advisory Group discussions, and public input received from a workshop last November.

We received valuable feedback from the open house, says Project Manager David Yamashita. Community members told us the features and concerns that were most important to them.
Designing a park on this site has its challenges, since it is a former landfill and is not a flat site. Current access to the site is also limited.
The design team, led by Vigil-Agrimis Inc., is considering the comments from the January open house and modifying the concepts into a draft master plan with two preferred alternatives one with and one without additional property acquisition.
The March open house will be the communitys final opportunity to review and provide feedback on the draft master plan and cost estimates. The final master plan will be reviewed by City Council in spring 2008.
