CAN Board

The Cully Association of Neighbors board is a friendly, fun bunch who enjoy working together to increase the livability of Cully.

Who Can Join the Board?

Anyone who lives, works, holds a business license, or owns property in Cully can run for a board position. Folks on the board love our neighborhood and seek to make it a better place for all. No previous board experience is required.

The board consists of three to four officers (chair, co-chair, secretary, and treasurer) and five at-large members. Officers serve 1-year terms, and at-large members serve 2-year terms. All board members are volunteers elected by Cully residents annually in April during CAN Neighborhood Gatherings.‍ ‍

What Do Board Members Do?

The board plans neighborhood gatherings and events, helps Cully residents connect with the city government, and takes official positions on neighborhood issues by sending letters and providing public testimony.

Board members may also serve on CAN committees, like the communication committee, the transportation and land use committee, or a temporary committee formed to organize a special event. Board members are encouraged to focus on the areas that they are most passionate about.

Board members attend a monthly board meeting, typically held usually on the fourth Tuesday of each month.. They vote to on various actions, from sending a letter to a city bureau to approving the annual CAN budget. The meetings are open to the public online and anyone can join to listen or provide comments to the board.

See the CAN Bylaws for more information on official board member duties.
