Who Can Join the Board?

Anyone who lives, works, holds a business license, or owns property in Cully can run for a board position. You don't need previous board experience—just an interest in your neighborhood and a willingness to get involved.

The board includes three to four officers—chair, co-chair, secretary, and treasurer—and five at-large members. Officers serve one-year terms, while at-large members serve two-year terms. All board members are volunteers and are elected annually in April by Cully residents during a CAN Neighborhood Gathering.

What Do Board Members Do?

Board members help plan neighborhood gatherings and events, connect Cully residents with city government and community partners, and help keep neighbors informed about issues affecting Cully.

The board also discusses and votes on actions taken by CAN, including letters of support, public testimony, and other neighborhood issues. Board members may serve on CAN committees, such as the Communications Committee, Land & Transportation Committee, or a temporary committee created for a special project or event.

Board members are encouraged to focus on the areas they care about most and bring their own skills, interests, and ideas to the work.

The board meets monthly, typically on the fourth Tuesday of the month. Board meetings are open to the public online, and neighbors are welcome to attend, listen, or provide public comment.
